Thinking about this freedom in the extreme, is it okay to now eat human flesh? Is there freedom to do whatever I want?
Even before the Torah was given God told Noah in Genesis 9: 3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything." One who knows his Bible will be quick to point out that verses 4-7 are about not eating blood or killing a fellow man, and that man is to be fruitful and multiply.
People are not food, however, many read Genesis 9: 3 as all moving things to mean that there was no unclean/clean difference. God added that in later. Perhaps since Adam to Noah people lived longer and mankind understood what moving things were eatable and what was not supposed to be food. Did God's instructions need to be written down because humanity was getting farther away from the Garden of Eden and forgetting God's way?
We must go to the Bible for our answers and the way we walk in this life.
Psalm 119: 1 "Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!"
Cannibalism. Yes, this is a sick topic. I don't know how this came up in my thinking, but getting rid of God's instructions on how to live would account for why our society has degenerated. So why not cannibalism? Part of what is right and wrong is seen as having been abolished on the cross, like eating Kosher, which is what God describes as food in the Torah.
Psalm 119: 10 "With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!"
Does the Bible say it is now OK to wander from his commandments, has it been changed?
What about just eating an arm?
What about finding a dead person and snacking on the corpse?
The Torah is what describes eating humans as a curse, "You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters" (Leviticus 26: 29). Deuteronomy 28: 53-57, Jeremiah 19: 9, Lamentations 2:20; 4: 10, and Ezekiel 5:10 carry the same curse. This is why it is wrong, evil, and detestable. It doesn't matter what your society thinks, God says it is wrong.
The point of this blog post is that we should not pick and choose which commands we want to follow.
Peter quotes Isaiah in 1Peter 1: 24-25:
“All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
God is forever.
I urge you to not pick and choose what God has commanded or pick and choose interpretations of Scripture. Test everything by praying for discernment and reading your Bible. Read your Bible, don't simply listen to somebody else explain their thoughts when they read the Bible.
Blessings to you.
