Christians and Covid

What does the Bible say about getting a vaccine or wearing a face mask?

I have heard some Christians say that the vaccine is the mark of the beast, and we soon will be living end-time prophecy. Others say that if you love your neighbor, you will get the vaccine to help protect them.

Facebook provides arguments at the extreme, some believe Covid is all a hoax, and the government uses it to control the people. Others are angry because they have lost someone during the pandemic and think it is madness not to do everything the CDC recommends.

I heard a man say that he was wrestling with whether or not he should get vaccinated (He didn't think the scientists were doing their due diligence and didn't like the idea that those recommending the vaccine were also making money from it). After he decided to get the vaccine, he said God delivered him from the fear of the vaccine. He had a supernatural experience (of course, this ended any discussion on his decision) where God let him know it would be OK. He is an older man, and with fatalities high for his age group, I would not begin to judge his decision. Trusting the science of the vaccine and the danger the scientists say humanity is in, when one doesn't trust the scientists, is giving in to fear. Mainstream media and many scientists push the vaccine while claiming that any information refuting its safety is false and misleading. Yet many other reputable scientists and doctors say that the vaccine is not safe and not needed.

Leviticus 19:19 says, "You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material." The vaccine does mix different species and has ingredients that are a mystery (good luck finding if it is kosher) with fetal cell testing. Even if the mainstream science is correct, the Christian that does not want to get the vaccine should not be judged either.

Current social Covid culture is a spiritual issue, not a physical one. No, I'm not an idiot. I know Covid is a biological germ and not some spiritual force the devil uses to lower the population. However, the devil uses spiritual power to divide Christians by this sickness. One side calls for penalties for the unvaccinated or calling them dangerous, variant making grandma killers. The other is that the government is turning people into sheep as they take the "shot," which they believe is the mark of the beast, and these people are hell-bound. Do not get wrapped up in these arguments. Argumentative division does not glorify God.

As Christians our issue should be about unity in the body of Christ, not split on worldly issues.

Ephesians 4:1-3 "I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

Psalm 133

Behold, how good and pleasant it is

when brothers dwell in unity!

It is like the precious oil on the head,

running down on the beard,

on the beard of Aaron,

running down on the collar of his robes!

It is like the dew of Hermon,

which falls on the mountains of Zion!

For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,

life forevermore.

These scriptures are glaringly evident that Christian brothers should desire unity and relish it. Jesus talks about the dishonest manager in Luke 16:1-9, where he states that unbelievers know how to treat each other better than the "sons of light." We need to pray for humility and gentleness. That bond of peace is worth it! A blessing commanded by God forevermore!
